Navigating the Path to Medical School 2024/2025

An opportunity to receive advice and guidance on applying for medicine in 2024/2025. The session will be run online by qualified doctors and current Imperial College London School of Medicine admission tutors. We will cover all aspects of the application, including what to expect at the interview, guidance on work experience and advice on personal statements.

Meet Our Speakers

  • Raihaan Biju

    Raihaan is a fifth-year medical student at Imperial College London. Raihaan completed an intercalated BSc in Bioengineering in 2023 and is interested in the intersection of technology and health. Outside of medicine Raihaan is a keen runner, cyclist and rower.

  • Dr Anabel Varela-Carver

    Dr Anabel Varela-Carver

    Dr Varela-Carver is a senior admissions tutor at Imperial College London on the MBBS/BSc course, as well as being head of admissions for Medical Biosciences. Dr Varela-Carver has extensive experience in medical admissions and is passionate about widening access to education and promoting inclusivity and diversity in medical training.

  • Dr James Bell

    Dr James Bell is currently an F1 doctor in Peterborough. James graduated from Imperial College London in 2023 with an MBBS with distinction in surgery and a 1st Class Honours BSc in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. During his time at Imperial, James has sat on the interview panel for Imperial MBBS course applicants and volunteered as a tutor and examiner for medical school mock exams. James also co-founded the Imperial Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society. Outside of academia, James is a keen hockey player and violinist.

  • Lilia Evans

    Lilia is a fourth-year medical student at Imperial College School of Medicine (ICSM), currently studying for an intercalated BSc in Pharmacology. Over the last few years, Lilia has played a vital role within the ICSM student union as part of the Welfare Team. Next academic year, Lilia will be the ICSMSU’s President, dedicating her efforts to improving the student experience.
